I am using RHL 6.1 from PCQ Nov.99 issue on following system at my home-

P-60, 32 MB RAM, 1.2GB/70MB root/swap partition.
SIS 6215C PCI SVGA card with 2 MB VRAM.
GVC 33.6 kbps external modem
X-Windows Manager - KDE
Browser - Netscape 4.61
Dialer - kppp

I am reasonably happy with regular performace of Linux and want to use it more for home use, majority of which involves internet use.

My problem is, Internet speed with above Linux configuration is half or less than that using WIN98/IE5 on the same machine.

How do I optimise my settings so as to boost my internet performance ?

Kindly give me some pointers to overcome the speed obstacle.
