Okay, I'm p'oed. Karrox called me today and asked me if I was interested
in joining their course on Internet Security. I told the chick (politely
though) - Lydia was her name - that I wasn't interested. I also said that
the seminar by that Flynn dude was pretty basic and that I left half way
through. You'd think that that was enough of a hint that I was not
interested, but noooooooo. She persisted and proceeded to read out the
contents of the course.

I have no idea what she said cause I was busy typing out some mails, but I
did here random references to NT and IIS. When she was done, I told her
that security issues regarding everything she had mentioned was very well
documented on the internet and that it wasn't necessary for anyone to take
a course on it. She persisted and asked if I would be interested in any
other seminars they might hold - yeah right. I told her that I would
probably see the ad in the newspaper, so don't bother calling.

Now you're probably wondering where all this is leading.

Here:

Why don't we organise our own Internet Security Workshop or Seminar. We
can have it really detailed, maybe even cover two sessions. We could
invite cybercafe owners, office users and home users.

During these sessions, I'm sure many issues will come up from the audience
that we would find very useful in our other series of workshops -
cybercafe, small offices, big offices, home users.

It would prepare us better for the later work that has to be done, while
also educating the public about holes that they could easily fall in to.

The security issues would have to include all platforms, not just linux.
I'm sure this will highlight the fact that linux is more secure than any
other system.

That's my idea for now.

matter (where relevant) in to your feedback)
