Hi all,
Got a curious prob.
My Parallel port is not detected in linux.
/proc/devices : does not show up.
/dev/ .. lp0,lp1,lp2 .. not present.
in conf.modules... tried..
lp=0x278... etc....
{ also tried .. paride, parport .. }
while booting...
' unkown keyword lp '
tried 'make menuconfig & xmenuconfig' to recompile the kernel.
in the menu.... even though I should be able to compile it into the
kernel... option "y" is disabled for everything related to parallel ports /
parallel printers. ( help says ... option 'y' is available )
I have used this very printer (HP-DJ200 )in older versions of RHL (5, 5.1,
5.2 etc.. )
(printer/port works fine in the other OS)
I am using RHL 6.1 from Pc-Quest.
I recomplied the kernel using all options related to parallel ports as
"m"... ( loadable module - kernel 2.2.12-20 ).
No effect. { :-) .. though my system is a lot faster... left out all the
unreq. details ... }
Any Ideas ???
{ yeah.. yeah... I know .. switch to SUSE .. but I do not believe that this
prob. is specific to RHL. }
Anybody having same prob.? I am relatively exp. in installing... & this is
the first time I've got this error. ( I know the install is OK )
