Not bad at all! A few points:
- Have you tried speaking it? I don't know your style, but as it stands
it looks like a document meant to be read rather than spoken.
- (My opinion) Tell them to actually try writing programs, instead of
linearly reading though docs/mans/foo. Sure, start reading something like
perl5 for dummies, then as soon as you think of something to implement in
perl, start writing the program. It won't be great, it might suck, but
it's a good way to start any language. As soon as you get started, dump
the dummies book and stick with the camel. (Last sentence put in to
placate anti-dummies people (including me)). Oh, they'll get stuck on the
first few programs, but then they should refer to the docs (thorough
search *before* screaming for help) and they'll learn more than what they
were looking for. I'm sure you can put it in a better way, it's now 2330
and...
- How do I *post* to usenet??? Is there a free server that allows
