Abstract

Genetic Algorithms is a methodology that uses nature's method of natural
selection to solve optimization or search problems for problem domains
that currently do not have a very efficient heuristic solution.
We start with Darwin's theory of Natural Selection, see the adaptation of
this concept to problem solving (Search), study the 'new' terms (actually
terms that are quite regularly used in Genetics) that are introduced,
study more concepts specific to only Genetic Algorithms. Then we discuss
the design issues that are involved in Genetic Algorithms and
take a case-study viz. classroom time-tabling.
