Mini-distro:
I've just downloaded DLX. Haven't installed it yet, but from the docs, it
seems like what you may need. It has added support for zip-disks, so you
could plugin a zip disk and mount it as /usr/local/* (it does this
automatically).
Fits on a single floppy, creates a RAM disk. Has a 130KB (approx) ext2
file system on the same floppy for you to store configuration files.

It uses any kernel > 1.3.89 so I suppose 2.2.x should do.
