Use "Xconfigurator" to setup the drivers needed for your display card and
monitor, then use "startx" to start the GUI. Changing your default runlevel
in /etc/inittab to "5" will cause Linux to boot directly into the GUI mood.

That depends on what mail-server you need: either sendmail or qmail. Both
have their own ways for configuration. IMHO, qmail is the in thing since it
is supposed to be secure and it can be easily controlled by simple text
file in /var/qmail/control as well as user preferences created in
$HOME/.qmail files.
Personally, I was never able to handle the hassles involved in
/etc/sendmail.cf

Use fetchmail as the pop agent and procmail or qmail as the local mail
agent to deliver the mails to the respective users. There was a recent
thread about sharing the same account between users, but it didn't survive
to reach any solution!

I don't think so, unless you plan to allow Windoze machines to download
mails from a central linux server!
Sameer.
