Man...  SQL is just a language for making database queries.  It is
supposed to be database independent so that programmers can write almost
the same code regardless of the underlying database.  It is not a complete
language.

mysql is a database server.  You use SQL to communicate with the server.
Standard sql commands hold with a few differences.
