First I'll try and explain what happened.
When you installed linux, you might have installed lilo which writes a
small program to a part of the hard disk known as the Master Boot Record.
This is the first thing that is looked up after your system starts up, and
basically says how your machine is going to boot.
Windows also writes to the MBR, so when you installed Windows, it
overwrote lilo.
Now, you have a few options, but I'll go with Devdas here... you'll have
to get a boot disk. The question is how?
If you installed from a CD, there will most likely be a few .img files on
the CD (I can't say which directory, but look around). You can browse the
CD using Windows.
You've got to transfer a boot.img or rescue.img file to a diskette using a
program called rawrite.exe (also on the CD). There should be instructions
along with this program. Do not try to copy the img file onto the
diskette as this will not work.
Finally, boot from the floppy (you may need to change BIOS settings to
enable floppy boot), and run lilo:
# /sbin/lilo
You should get a couple of messages saying that lilo is being installed.
You're now ready to run.
For info on info on linux (that's not a typo), check the other mails.
