OK Pal,
      so ya have installed RH6.2, thats great. 
         Find out what kinda NIC do ya have on ya m/c. whether it a 10 , 100
or a 10/100 & what is its CHIPSET. This CHIPSET is the most  important of them
all.. 
  For this ya may even have to open up the box or safer , get to ya hardware
guy. Trying to be the wiser you may even boot into windoZe(   :-)  ,i.e if ya
still have it on ya m/c) & check out the NIC CHIPSET by going into the
  >> ControlPanel >> System >> Network Adapters .
Assuming ya have the data at hand. Get into LINUXCONF & setup the NIC by
choosing the respective driver for ya card.
      If ya still dont have the specific driver try the "NE2K-pci.c" driver in
linux.  It will pay to have the i/o & irq info for ya card at hand.

So what does all this mean to ya??. Linux is pretty choosy about its hadware,
but i'll bet things will improve as time gets by.
