Sometime Today, rohit sharma assembled some asciibets to say:

> If all code eventualy goes free, what about people who *earn* by
> selling their code? It's really nice if you are employed by xyz
> company and write code which is gpl'ed on the side. I as an employer
> would hate that tho :)) But if writing code is your bread and butter,
> is gpl good for you?

1. Maybe you should read `The Magic Cauldron' by Eric Raymond. He makes
several points on how OSS and FS can make money for you. I am not
going to cover them here. http://www.tuxedo.org/ You know that
   already.

2. The GPL does not state the code has to be given away free of charge
(free beer). It states that code must be given away without
restrictions on use, modification and redistribution.

   - If I am giving my software away free, I must give the source code
     away free too.
   - If I am charging for the software, then there must be no *additional*
     cost on the source code.

Does this answer your queries? In any case, you wanna join Sun and work
with Bill Joy na? Who wouldn't?

Philip
