Which distro are U using? 

which is the other machine config... ( perhaps U are using a kernel that does
not support Ur machine ............ unlikely... most kernels can boot 386
or at least 486 & up. )

Boot to dos..
use loadlin ..... 
most distros have some kind of script file to allow U to boot from Dos. ( this
is not from the dos window... but from DOS itself... restart Ur comp. in dos.
mode )

thats all I can say for now...
if U are still having probs... please give the distro & version of the distro U
are using.
