Introduction: We are seeking skilled software engineers who are experienced, self-motivated and highly-productive to work on new and exciting products. In geek speak they should be able to help themselves and have good problem solving skills :). This is a unique opportunity to be part of the highly-dynamic and motivated Performance Analytics team and implement cutting-edge software that runs on the Akamai Global network. The Akamai Global network spans 1100+ networks in 69+ countries and is one of the largest distributed systems in the world. Almost all of the machines on this network run the GNU/Linux operating system. Common Requirements: * Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field required. * 3+ years of C/C++ development experience. Proficient in scripting languages such as Perl, Python or Shell. * Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills. 1) Software Engineer (Development) Requirements: * Strong knowledge of Internet protocols, standards, and technologies, including TCP/IP, HTTP, RTSP, HTML, XML, and JavaScript. * Must be eager to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, team-oriented environment. * Knowledge of systems and network programming in GNU/Linux. * Strong knowlegde of Data Structures and Algorithms. 2) Testing Engineer Requirements: * Scripting knowledge of Perl/Python/TCL * Experience supporting testing activities for multiple applications/releases preferred * Strong attention to detail and excellent problem solving/troubleshooting skills required * Previous work experience and hands-on knowledge of HTTP, TCP/IP and Streaming * Working knowledge of using databases (Oracle/MySQL) * Experience with Apache and application servers like Tomcat preferred 3) Portal Engineer Requirements: * Experience with Perl 5 including HTML: Mason, SOAP::Lite, and DBI. * Experience with Java/J2EE including JSP, Struts and JDBC. * Experience with RDBMS (Oracle/MySQL a plus) including data modeling and SQL query tuning. * Experience with XML and SOAP (Web Services) interfaces. * Experience with web development in HTML, JavaScript, embedded scripting languages, and CSS. * Experience with Apache web proxy and Tomcat configuration a plus. * Understanding of Internet technologies especially HTTP content delivery and Streaming content delivery. Knowledge of Internet routing and TCP/IP a plus.
