Vesa wouldn't be the right driver for acceleration. XV allows you to view video in full screen, but needs DRI. As Philip mentioned, check if DRI is enabled on your system with a simple dmesg. BTW a quick search on Ubuntu forums for your S3 Unichrome drivers should give you the answer :) [ I know coz I found it there ] regards, C
