why not knoppix? I am currently using oralux, which is a modified version of knoppix. it is a talking live cd. it not just comes up talking when it boots, but also gives me a menu which includes items like we get on a start menu, like the linkx browser, file browser, dropping to a shell etc. this comes up instead of bash.
