Hi,
My Pentium 4 system is officially declared dead. I wish to replace it
with a Core 2 Duo system. I wanted to know which motherboards are
compatible with Linux. I would like to go in for a genuine Intel
motherboard. The processor I am thinking of is Intel Core 2 Duo
E6300/6400/6600/6700. I dont know which motherboard is most compatible
with Linux ( FC5/6 ) specifically.
The only Intel boards I could find were:
- DG965RYCK
- DG965WHMKR

I don't know the above codes for the Core2 but the ones we give to our
clients are Pentium Duo 2.8, 3 and 3.4 GHz processors respectively. The
Intel Original 102 GGC mobo goes with all three processors. 102 ggc
comes with ATI Radeon display chips. I have tried either Kubuntu 6.06 or
Knoppix 5 on a P4 3Hz single core with 102 GGC board. I did not go into
details but I got good screen resol. and starting sound. I will try
again on a visit to a client and give better feedback. Let me know if
the processors are what you are looking for. 102 GGC is not compatible
with Sony optical drives so you will have to settle for LG/Liteon.
Though the dealer does mention a latest Sony DVD writer thats compatible
with 102 ggc. Never tried it.

Rony.
