I agree.

My personal take on the matter is that since most desktop users spend
most of their time in a desktop environment, it's actually more sensible
to use the desktop's name - Gnome, KDE, XFCE etc. To me it appears to be
the quickest way to convey the largest amount of information about the
user's environment.
