dual-booting ( or multi booting) You can  use either lilo / grub . Lilo

My doubt was whether there was something about Slack which would require
lilo and i would have to go about  setting up lilo for ubuntu.
It is now clear that there is no problem.

grub are very similar .... you have to specify these 4 things:
1) title
2) partition number
3) kernel
4) initrd image
in the configuration file for each of the operating system that you have
installed.

Check out the exact syntax. I am sure you can find out .

NTLDR from windows , can also be used . This URL explains how it can be
