I did the updates in my laptop too and now it is able
to play VCDs and DVDs properly. Now my laptop Acer
2428 is 100% Linux ready.

And a minor correction. It was not google but
www.ask.com that showed up the link

Ask.com is now my default search engine as I find  it
to be more accurate.
