With debian you can install on one machine and then switch to another 
as long as the ide interface and master / slave settings are not 
changed. If u do change that u need to edit /etc/fstab.Make sure 
discover is running. If not just add the modules to /etc/modules.
You will face problems only if you install on ide and then switch to 
sata / scsi cause you need a different initrd.
