The fact that it was working and didn't after a long suggests the
problem is either with sound daemon leaking memory and crashing
(unlikely) or with the kernel modules.
Why ?
The m/c might be set to go into suspend mode ? Many ppl have face
problem with suspend to ram. Try checking the acpi settings.
If nothing reload the sound daemon after reloading the sound kernel modules.
