I believe the distro capability has the upgrade option, just like any
other distro. Higher releases just support more peripherals and have
new applications.

Customers are different from developers. I believe they put this sort
of warning message on the wiki because customers are eventually going
to compare the phone with other models in the market, and they didn't
want them to create FUD, because:

1. Customers never understand technology, they only use it.
2. It will take some time to get cool applications that customers
would like to use. Already many projects have been registered here:
