Its getting quite the norm with software too...
with *Linux just install - choose your apps or just do a full install..
(ok, one extra step to get mp3, dvd etc to play). -  20-30mins..(if
you dont have too exotic)
 on windows - install OS, then install drivers for devices, (get CDs,
get cracks) then install an office suite, install a browser/email
client, install music players, install cd/dvd burning s/w.. & so on..
(remember almost reboot at every step!)...  several hours!...
