I know exactly what you mean when you say the above statements.
you are defending micorsoft and criticising linux. Anyway the whole
discussion is moot as desktops are obsolete - yes, they will be there
for sometime to come, but the main development is the web, and that
is where the talent is going. And, as you can see, foss based
companies have already far outstripped micorsoft.
OOo can't be a replacement to M$ Office, just yet. It has a long
way to
go before it matures into a real competitor.
both are already oboselete - it is just that neither knows it yet
