Actually, As far as I know they are replacing all their logins/ PPPoE based connections with a browser based login. Once you login (yes it works fine with firefox), your effectively online. I think they had a PPPoE connection here, but it was before i took up tata, when i joined they just gave me something called the TI BB Web Dialer [loginmum.tataindicombroadband.in]. Which in a way is good cause it works with any browser with js.
