So rather than browser preference, it could be plain dumb coding (and of course most banks use the same i-banking platform, so you know where the blame lies).
Anybody tried SBI and its associate banks' i-banking sites? IIRC, they also work only with IE. There are some script issues that stop Firefox in its tracks at the login level.
