As per my knowledge if you migrate to PHP5 from PHP 4 then you need to do changes in php.ini also. Unfotunately I dont remember exact changes but I had done this 3 months back for one of our PHP-Mysql application. I remember even some PHP4 functions dont work in PHP5.
