It was always there. As part of the course, first thing they teach is Linux
as most of the programming in the course is done in GNU/Linux and Solaris.
One of the years, I myself taught Linux fundamentals when I was with them.

Maybe they might have made the Linux training more formal now. Might have
increased the depth, I am not sure. Earlier it was just how to use it, what
all commands in the shell etc. They are also working on securing the Linux
kernel if I am not wrong.
