What is an upstream or downstream problem? I just install GNU/Linux and 
use KDE. Found the problem just yesterday at someone's place.

There may be a theory behind it but some pointers should be available in 
the interface itself so that a normally experienced KDE user can find 
his way around without google. Anyway I will look it up.
