Short-term vacancy for Project Coordinator Requirement - immediate. Duration three months. Location - Mumbai based but would involve some travelling to nearby rural areas. Comet Media Foundation are carrying out a short term project whose purpose is carry out a study of the security and legal aspects of running a telecentre or cyber cafe and to convert this information into study and reference materials that can be used by telecentre operators and their staff to meet regulatory requirements, protect themselves and help their customers in the current security scenario. This need is felt due to risks to telecentres and users as well as legal liabilities faced by the operators in this regard. This is a good opportunity for a curriculum developer to gain hands-on experience in creating content to fit a context. The study involves designing a questionnaire, and meeting with 10 urban and rural telecente operators and about forty users of different profiles. Detailed interviews will need to be scheduled and conducted with a total of about 25 persons. The coordinator would also have to interact with external experts - a lawyer, cyber security expert, research associates, instructional design consultant, visual designer and coder as well as with the project partner who would function as a community leader among telecentre operators. With the help of these resource persons, we will convert the inputs into six training sessions of about 1-2 hours each. The coordinator and team members will then run two pilot workshops to test the materials with a target audience. The feedback from these sessions will be used to refine the content and methodology as required. In parallel, all activities will be documented and converted into a final report by the end of January, 2009. We are looking for a young person with at least one year of social research experience with a fair understanding of ICTs (Information & Communication Technologies) and fluency in Marathi, English and Hindi who can function independently in the field against tight deadlines and resource constraints. S/he must be based in Mumbai and familiar with nearby areas. Good relationship skills, communication (oral and written) and analytical skills are essential. Remuneration: A consolidated salary of Rs. 15,000 per month will be paid for a maximum of three months. Travel and related expenses will be reimbursed as per norms.
