Wat u r mentionin abt LVS is basically load balancing. Though in lay man terms u can call it web server clustering..in the right technical perspective it's basically load balancing. AFAIk......there r many load balancing alogos avaiilable out there........rangin from --> simple dns round robin to.... --> Virtual Server via NAT --> Virtual Server via IP Tunneling --> Virtual Server via Direct Routing U should really check the NAT nd IP tunneling algos...efficient way of gettin thingz done. I haven;t done ny benchmarkin though. But Even load balancing(clusterin of web servers) has a major prob....... creatin redundancy at the Load balancer in case of ur the main web server load balancer goin down...
