Dear all We need more projects to offer.and mentors for those projects as well..We are doing quite pathetically on this front..Nevertheless, my contribution to the project list
1. A management interface for the Snort IDS. From what I understand of the industry, this is one piece of GPL software companies are ready to go in for.Largely , this is because snort is being regarded as a quality product, the best of whats available.What snort lacks is a management interface that lets the IDS admin update signatures, edit signatures, change configurations of his sensors in an enterprise environment through a nice,easy, GUI kind of way. This is a project that corporates will be interested in, I am sure. 2. A network monitoring, system.again something that is visual, polished and easy to use.. Again this is an area where companies compromise..since their budget is extinguished after buying desktops, servers, firewalls and Microsoft licenses ;-). They will jump if they can get a GPLed project free. 3. Policy Management tool - something that can be used to manage security policies..with system roles and responsibilities.auditor, sys-ad, user etc. I am not sure about this since this will require a knowledge base that needs to remain updated.
