Hello, i think this program is a bit too much for 2 days. And its heavily tilted towards programming.
1) GNU/open source/FSF/BSDlicense introduction 2) Programming tools available 3) Show a complete sample program development 4) Explain how open source components an be used to build I'd prefer to leave aside 4-6 hours for the following: 1) Introducing networks(leave them with an idea of a packet) 2) Introducing basic security concepts 3) Introducing storage networking I think these areas are the growth areas in the near future, hence the students should know abt them. I believe the idea of the workshop should be to generate a spark in the students mind to explore further on their own. I cannot promise my presence, but I might just drop in! regds, kishor --- Trevor Warren <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > >Tahir says...... > > *************************** > ********************* > *************************** > > > Hi Trevor! > > > > Here's a compilation of the topics that can be taken > > up in the > > workshop: > > > > CORE DEVELOPMENT: > > > > - Introduction to C, C++ > > - Linux Programming Environment > > (coding, compilation, debugging and documentation) > > - "Make"ing and Auto-tools > > - Debugging (GDB, DDD, Strace, ElectricFence etc.) > > - Static and Dynamic Libraries > > - Curses > > - Linux System Calls for I/O, Processes, IPC and > > Networking > > - Java Programming > > > > GUI PROGRAMMING and RAD TOOLS: > > > > - GTK > > - QT > > - Tcl/Tk > > - Kylix > > - KDevelop > > > > SCRIPTING: > > > > - Bash > > - PHP > > - Perl > > - Python > > > > WEB DEVELOPMENT: > > > > - PHP > > - Perl and CGI > > - Zope > > - MySQL > > > > This seems to be a handful but it feels quite > > 'complete'.
