Hi Nikhil,

When you do 'startx' from your terminal , and your X
doesn't start it must be giving some error messages ,
can u just paste those error messages .

That will help in giving the solution.

And for the version of XFree86 you can type 'XFree86
-version' This will give you the version of your X.
