Even after setting the standard refresh rates of your monitor (both v & h) from the 
manual, you may still encounter this problem.  Unlike the support software provided by 
the manufacturer under Windoz you do not have low level easy to use tweak utilities in 
Linux.

IMHO a workable workaround is to use the monitor settings controls (those that ar *on* 
the monitor) to shift the desktop to the left.
