I used to think of MS Word as the greatest piece of software till I had to write my Dad's 200+ page thesis. Even with styles, maintaining consistency was a pain. I bought a fat book on MS Office 2000 to figure out how to do the heavy-duty stuff but I couldn't even generate a ToC, which only requires a \tableofcontents in LaTeX! I prefer output in PDF format since it's ready to display/print, there are nice readers available for PDF and PDF docs can be sent to Windows users too, since they more often than not have Acrobat installed. Googlize "Essential LaTeX++" and "lshort.pdf" to get started. -- Tahir Hashmi (VSE, NCST) http://staff.ncst.ernet.in/tahir tahir AT ncst DOT ernet DOT in We, the rest of humanity, wish GNU luck and Godspeed -- _______________________________________________ http://mm.ilug-bom.org.in/mailman/listinfo/linuxers
