hi,

 make clean
 make mrproper
 make xconfig/menuconfig/config   (read EACH section carefully)
 make dep
 make bzImage
 make modules
 make modules install

 the usb-uhci thing is not so critical..
 the root cause of all problems is not doing
 the configs properly  ..
