Several of you have written to express interest in our project, so I thought I would give you some background and information. ListMaster/Moderator, I hope that it OK to also post this to this list, since many people from there responded (I have also copied them directly). If not, please let me know, and I will refrain from posting to the list on this topic in the future.
Our company currently runs two businesses www.maxnetwork.com and www.icinema.com The latter is dormant right now, because we are starting a new business parallel to it. Although we have an existing business, the new company is a startup, so we are cash strapped, and investors are very "tight-fisted" in this environment. However, we can pay as long as rates are reasonable and the biggest rewards come after delivery. If initially successful (first three months), this is a guaranteed long term project and can bring rewards in the form of partnership/ownership as well. A lot will depend on aggressively completing initial pieces of the project. Please note that we are relentless about success, and will highly reward people who help us meet our goals, but will be equally merciless for those who do not. All this, in the spirit of honesty, without which people can never work productively together. This is a project for one or more Linux based Entertainment Appliances. I cannot tell you much more without a confidentiality agreement, but it requires knowledge of video formats especially MPEG and potentially streaming video (Windows Media and Real Media). Also, data structures, file i/o, ports i/o and some networking (TCP/IP). I know this is a tall order, but I am willing to work with intelligent, committed people, even if they don't know everything, because we can create a team to fill in the gaps. The first part is critical though, so let me tell give you a little more information. Initially, the project involves working with static files or data structures, but eventually with Real Time Video Capture.
