It seems a bit off topic but since I have Athlon XP........!!!!!!!!
Although the Processor fan does make lots of noice the primary work that I do @ home is some basic surfing,
desktop video processing/capture and lots of gaming even my house is not well ventilated but the nForce 1 chipset with AMD XP seems to be giving great results.
Rest the decision is yours......

1800 ? What i read form 'Digit' was, MSI KT4
Ultra(with VIA KT400 chipset) motherboard works great with AMD Athalon XP 2600.
If its not AMD then the only other choice is Intel P4(1.8Ghz), which is expensive.
