For compiling with SSL support i downloaded and installed the
ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/security/nss/releases/NSS_3_8_RTM/src/nss-3.8.tar.gz
nss packages as told in the FAQ of gaim.
Then i configured it with command
./configure --with-nspr-includes=/nss-3.8/mozilla/nsprpub/pr/include/ --with-nspr-libs=/usr/lib/ --with-nss-includes=/nss-3.8/mozilla/security/nss/lib/nss/ --with-nss-libs=/usr/lib/
....
But still the configure script says:
checking for Mozilla nspr4 includes in /nss-3.8/mozilla/nsprpub/pr/include/... ""
checking nspr.h usability... no
checking nspr.h presence... no
checking for nspr.h... no
checking for Mozilla nspr4 libraries... no
checking for Mozilla nss3 includes... no
checking for Mozilla nss libraries... no
.
.
.
.
SSL Library/Libraries......... : None
