Hi all
Regarding the discussion on the saftey if one can
enter LINUX by switching into single user mode at the
boot prompt one solution that I can think of is to
comment the line specifying the single user mode in
the /etc/inittab file [ l1:1:wait:/etc/rc.d/rc 1 ].
Then the system will boot but the system can't be
started correctely in the single user mode not only @
the boot prompt but even otherwise. Only the magic
buttons CTRL + ALT + DEL works if not diabled.
Inorder to switch into the Single user mode then
one with the rootly powers has to uncomment the line
and then ask the init process to re-examine the
/etc/inittab file once again by typing "init q". Then
one can use the Single user mode.
