Hi all,
For installing a mail server (postfix) for an
organisation, is it necessary to have one Valid IP? or
not an issue.
please explain?
You need to have a permanent live IP for your organization if you plan to keep
a mail server (also generally known as mailgate) with yourself. In this case
your mail server will directly send and receive all the mails for your
organization to external domains.
Alternatively you can render services from mail service providers like Yahoo or
Rediff. They receive & send all the mails for your organization. In this case
your server will SMTP/POP mails of your organization to/from the Yahoo/Rediff
server. Here you dont require a permanent live IP address. Also a plus point
would be you can avail many advanced features like spam protection and
Antivirus check already available with them.
