Hi there,
What you need is a download manager, which is basically what "FlashGet" is. 
There are many other download managers, "wget" being the favourite of most 
linux users. Its available for windows too. :)

Since you have started using FlashGet, you can continue with it. About the 
speed, dont worry, it once took me a month to download an ISO.

Another way out is to ask the lug in chennai.
http://www.chennailug.org/Someone could give you a CD. Or you could
look for a magazine like "Linux
for You" or some other which has the CD.
