i have noticed quite a few people babbling about social service in
this thread. Two things that give the community a bad name are that
we are pirates by nature and that we are doing social service.
Building community has nothing to do with social service (which,
btw, is one of the most lucrative professions going - all you need
is no qualifications and a big mouth to make big money)

A simple illustration - if your hobby is rat catching, it is no fun
unless you can meet fellow rat catchers to brag about the ones you
caught and lament about the big one that got away. You meet, you
exchange tips and tricks, you build clubs, you expand to other
cities and finally have a worldwide community of rat catchers.
Where is the social service involved?

Foss is not religion, it is not social service, it is fun, it is
sound business sense - and the pseudo religious/charitable colour
some people give it is the biggest enemy of foss.
