Many education institutes are seeking to use computers and internet.
However, most reputed institutions are also constrained by limitations of
low budgets and lack of IT savvy human resource. Usually suited-booted
vendors do approach through "trustees', resulting in major headaches for the
managers i.e Principals.
There are several global efforts on "opensource". How 'free', remains to be
seen.
I am seriously discussing with some institutions some solutions and seek
thru this email
1. list those who can provide the necessary
customisation,localization,support etc.
2. suggestions for best solutions
I feel this platform should not be talking about the business models and
financial aspects. (That may be welcome offline). But I do feel that this
platform should be concerned about promoting global standard software
suites .
