Ask him to go in for a C2D Machine with 6-8 Gigs of RAM with a P8600 or better processor and an Intel GMA4500 chipset or better. This is a very power efficient and cool ( as in temperature ) platform. If he wants a more mature platform ask him to go in for a C2D with GMA X3100 chipset with 4 Gigs of RAM. This runs a bit hotter ( not so much though ) and is power efficient as well. With this chipset he should get a T8300 processor. It packs a punch. Since he needs something portable and light ( and sturdy ) he should try lenovo ( Though my personal experience has been bad I'm still recommending it purely because I feel it was a one off incident ). If not, Dell would give him the best returns on his investment. If money is not a worry, he should go in for a Mac Book Pro. - Dinesh -- http://mm.glug-bom.org/mailman/listinfo/linuxers
