Actually the only difference between 4736 and 4736z in terms of hardware is the processor. 4736 comes with T6600 as compared to t4300 in 4736z, which is actually an older processor. 4736z is a *cheaper* version of 4736. Here's some more info on the processor's from Intel's website Specification T4300 T6600 Speed 2.1GHz 2.2GHz FSB 800 800 L2 Cache 1MB 2MB Family Core Duo Core2Duo Thus, T6600 is definitely a higher end processor than T4300. Thus, those wanting a better performing machine will actually go for 4736. Those wanting a lower end or less costly machine without paying for windows can go for 5536 with AMD X2 QL-65 processor.
