Yesterday at Barcamp Kerala while Hiran V was proposing the Chamba
project , there was lot of discussion on ' why not maya' and it also
even went to a faculty of amritha questioning ' if you ask people to
use blender you will get very less people ' and also suggested ' to
use maya and release the code in public repo ' .

Watching that discussion and a similar one where I had to answer on
"why not mapmaker, google, eart, kml etc " . It went to a suggestion
to prepare a slideshow/table or presentation highlighting the
usefullness/advantages of blender when compared to its propreitary
alternatives .

I didn't want to compare something which I didn't use . If anyone has
any links do share them .
