If you are already using IMAP on the account (for example your present @gmail.com account), why would you prefer to sync with a physical device and an application running on that device as opposed to a mail store ? In general, if you already have an Android phone, using the Gmail app with your credentials put in should allow you to sync your gmail (for a pre-defined period).
