It was to be expected.

Next they will migrate the Skype servers to their own platform, add
features available only through the Windows client and stop
development on the Linux client.

I recall, how a few years ago, almost everyone that I interacted with
from the Indian sub continent, had an email address <*>@hotmail.com.
Interestingly, none of them use their hotmail address anymore and they
have moved on to a Yahoo! or a Gmail address.
